Danny Brown- Detroit State of Mind

14 May

Pitchfork TV teamed up with Danny Brown to bring us this candid 20 minute snapshot into the raw and unfiltered life of one of hip hop’s rising stars.

This film brings us back to the savage Detroit streets and pays homage to one of the richest music cultures in North America.

Danny Brown- Blunt After Blunt (3:33 Remix)

24 Apr

We knew Danny Brown went hard on ‘Blunt After Blunt’ but 3:33 took things to a whole new level.

This gives me the same feeling that D12- Fight Music did back in 2001. That ‘I want to head bang and maybe punch someone in the face feeling’.

Enjoy responsibly

Bangers & Mash

23 Apr

This feature started as a random post to catch up on missed mashups/bootlegs but it has quickly turned into your average ‘Mashup Monday’.

And how could it not? With guys like Kaskade, 3LAU, Kap Slap & Basic Physics all releasing FREE tunes on the same day… eat your hearts out

Dante Leon- Northern Lights

20 Apr

Dante Leon has been on our radar since his Charlie Darker-Vader collab blew the roof off and he’s back with a solo album which dropped at 4:20 today.

The album starts off with the flawless single ‘Northern Lights’ which is a perfect introduction into the r&b-electronic-experimental hip hop journey that Dante takes us through.

You can stream the album below & download it HERE

Mac Miller- 1 Threw 8 (Prod. Black Diamond)

19 Apr

Sometimes new releases stack up past the point of No Return.

Weeks have passed since Mac Miller dropped his latest mixtape but we couldn’t let it sit another day. For those of you who have been slacking, you can thank us later because your 4/20 just got better.

’1 Threw 8′ is the highlight of the album. It has all the elements of a winning track- a great beat, insightful lyricism and a sexy french chick. ‘Clarity’ falls in a close second and brings another chilled out vibe to Macadelic.

Chase and Status & Sub Focus- Flashing Lights Ft. Takura (Mac Miller Remix)

11 Apr

We robbed you of the Macadelic album so it was a necessity to shed some light on the new Mac Miller remix of one of Chase & Status’s biggest anthems.

Miller jumps on ‘Flashing Lights’ and puts fourth a mediocre effort but lets the instrumentals shine through his simplistic verses. It’s really the combination of dubstep and hip hop that make this worth listening to and if I’m being honest, Mac could have been replaced with Lil Romeo and I still would have been intrigued.

Bangers & Mash

10 Apr

Every week the Ambassador Beats inbox gets filled up with music submissions and every week there seems to be proportionately more mashups than any other genre.

The appeal has been on a steady incline since pioneers like Girl Talk and The Hood Internet kick started one of electronic music’s greatest sub-genres. Call it art, piracy or a guilty pleasure- either way it’s in our face and i’m not arguing.

Zeds Dead & Omar Linx- Victor

20 Mar

I’m lost without words after listening to ‘Victor’. The hybrid 7 track dubstep/hip hop masterpiece which dropped on Mad Decent today from dub hoppers- Zeds Dead & Omar Linx.

It could literally be the best 30 minutes i’ve experienced in decades.

There is no explanation necessary so just download the whole album for FREE here…

Mac Miller- Of The Soul (remix) (feat. Posdnous & Raekwon) (prod. ID Labs)

11 Mar

Mac Miller is on some next level shit alongside producer ID Labs and heavy hitters Posdnous & Raekwon.

He took to Twitter to unleash this old school infused gem and leaves us wanting more.

Impeccable wordplay from all three parties and a Mac Miller acapella to close out one of the best Mac releases in awhile.

The Best of Notorious B.I.G (Mixed by DJ M-Rock)

11 Mar

DJ M-Rock has done a great service to the music world with yet another ‘Best Of’ mix.

We had high expectations after his Best of Kanye West & A Tribe Called Quest tapes and the Toronto native did NOT disappoint.

This time ’round he mixes 86 Biggie tracks to create the perfect soundtrack for a 15 year anniversary of one of rap’s greatest. Here’s what M-Rock had to say about the mix-

Who’s 17 years old and freestyling with perfection on street corners in the daylight and getting a crowd? Nobody. I love artists who master their craft. How can you not? Thanks to my peoples for reminding me about tracks like “Think Big” that I never even knew. Take an hour and a half and let the funk sit in. Enjoy.

Check out DJMRock.com for full tracklisting and many more great mixtapes.

Kid Cudi- Dose Of Dopeness

24 Feb

It’s been too long since we’ve been able to post some NEW new from Kid Cudi.

He’s back with ‘Dose of Dopeness’ which is exactly what the title says it is. The collaboration with Dot Da Genius actually dates back to 2008 and was just released as a precursor to the duo’s Feb 28th release of WZARD.

If the album is anything like this we are in for a big treat.

TMac ft. Illa Scorsese & Bravo- Might Get It

31 Jan

I rarely listen to Hip Hop anymore but when I do, it’s either classics from Biggie or new stuff from Illa Scorsese.

I’m not trying to make comparisons but they both possess that extra, hard to pinpoint quality. The clever lyricism, overall presence and demeanour demand your attention.

So when Illa threw up the live version of ‘Might Get It’ everything clicked for me. He is exactly what hip hop should be. Having fun, laying down bars with some buddies and just enjoying music and its endless possibilities.

Hats off to Illa and hats off to TMac, Bravo and whoever made this beat.

For full credits watch the video cause it’s got more shoutouts than a DJ Clue jam

Best Of 2011: Odds & Ends

4 Jan

Wrapping up the best tracks of 2011 hasn’t been easy. Over the past 12 months thousands of tracks were released in varying styles and with the popularity of genre blending, categorizing them has been a daunting task.

After revealing our Best Of’s Trance, Dubstep, House, Prog House, Electro, Tech House & Mashups we decided to highlight some of the tracks that just missed the cut.

For the sake of this ‘Best Of’ series and my sanity, we have picked our favourite tracks of 2011 based on genres categorized by Beatport. With that being said, our picks are purely based on personal taste and they give remixes the same weight as an original track.

Childish Gambino vs. Red Hot Chili Peppers (Vico Ono Mashup)

19 Nov

Vico Ono always strikes when the irons hot and with the success of Childish Gambino’s latest album i’d say this is perfect timing. He takes the standout track ‘Bonfire’ and mixes it with the always pleasant instrumental from ‘Under The Bridge’.

Download ‘Bonfire Under The Bridge’ below and head over to Vico Ono’s Soundcloud page for many more mashups.

Party on Fifth Ave – Mac Miller Video

28 Oct

Mac Miller just dropped the video for Party on Fifth Ave. This is the third single from Blue Slide Park and Mac gives a new spin to a classic beat. I really think Blue Slide Park is going to catapult Mac Miller into another stratosphere, what do you think?

SOFI, Millions Like Us, Foreign Beggars & Vulgatron- Joyride

24 Oct

Britain got the hip hop-dubstep connection years before we even knew what DUBSTEP was over here. Guys like Dizzee Rascal, Professor Green and Foreign Beggars should be considered OG’s and their popularity in the U.K mirrors that of guys like Jay-Z, Kanye West & Lupe Fiasco (who have all coincidently recently made the hip hop dubstep collab).

When I came across this star studded lineup it was hard not expect a hit. The beat is hard as fuck but maintains a balance between SOFI’s vocals and a heavy bassline. At times it sounds like a radio hit but then Foreign Beggars and Vulgatron jump in and the genius behind Millions Like Us prevails.

This track is featured on SOFI’s ‘Locked & Loaded Ep Part 1′ which was released on Mau5trap Records today. Buy it here and preview this tasty treat below.
