Go Buy Part & Parcel – Make Do and Mend

22 Nov

The go buy album this week is an easy choice. The new Part & Parcel acoustic EP from Make Do and Mend is a wonderfully simplistic rock record that is more than worth your time.

I’m new to the Make Do and Mend party but I am first to sing their praise. When I came across this EP I knew it was time to share it with you all. There are six songs that combine acoustic guitars, piano melodies and soft drum beats that leave the majority of the emphasis on the vocals.

This album is a steal at just under six dollars on iTunes and I highly recommend checking out Ghostal and Transparent Seas below if you like acoustic indie rock.

We have been posting some mainstream acts to Go Buy recently, but remember it is the smaller non-major label bands that need your support the most. Go out and get this EP, I know I say this a lot, but you will be impressed.

Go Buy: Blu Mar Ten- Love Is The Devil

16 Nov

To put it simply, Blu Mar Ten’s 5th studio album is a masterpiece. ‘Love is the Devil’ was released on the self titled Blu Mar Ten imprint and showcases the trio’s progression and growth over their successful career which has spanned well over 15 years.

The album starts out with the hypnotic ‘Into The Light’ featuring Airwalker and moves into an onslaught of highly melodic liquid drum n bass. ‘Love Is the Devil’ showcases some unbelievable vocalists including Jenni Potts, Rochelle Parker and one of my favorites- Kirsty Hawkshaw.

If you are a DnB fan or not this album is for everyone. Check out my picks for standout tracks and grab ‘Love Is The Devil’ on vinyl, cd or digitally at www.blumarten.com

Go Buy Camp – Childish Gambino

15 Nov

First, NBC is making a huge mistake by bouncing Community. It may never air again, which makes me very sad. Well one great thing about Community is it led me to Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino.

When I first started watching Community I also went out and picked up the Free-EP’s that Childish Gambino had released. I like to think I’m ahead of the curve, when really I have no idea.

The debut album from Childish was released today. Camp is a view into the brilliant mind that is Donald Glover and has blown me out of the water. It is my favourite album that was released today, which says a lot based on the albums that were released today.

I don’t need to say a lot about the material, it speaks for itself. Check out three of my favourite tracks from Camp below. Go buy this album now, you will not regret it, I promise.

Go Buy Hysterical – Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

13 Sep

I’m going to try and do something new for Ambassador Beats. Every Tuesday I plan to post one album that is worth your money to go out and buy. In the era we live in with torrents and free downloads taking over, it is becoming more and more rare for people to go out and buy music. But if it costs money to record and produce, why should it be free?

The first album in this series is the latest release from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Now, I’m already screwing things up because this album isn’t released in Canada or the States till the 20th, but in Europe and Asia it was released yesterday so it will already have hit the interweb.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are a Brooklyn based indie band that are seen by many as a staple of the indie community. They have been recording and releasing music since 2005 and have released two amazing albums and I can fully guarantee that Hysterical will not disappoint anyone.

You won’t seem like a hipster by listening to CYHSY, you will just be seen as someone who has impeccable taste in music and can understand the genius behind the music. Listen to Maniac and Same Mistake below, the two singles that have been released and go out and buy this album. If we want to enjoy quality music we are going to need to pay for it, or our airwaves will be diluted down to the likes of Rebecca Black, or people who will pay to be famous. Support good artists.
