Go Buy Neighbourhoods – Blink 182

27 Sep

So it’s Tuesday and that means that brand new music has hit the record stores. Now I think its quite obvious that the Go Buy album of the week is Blink 182′s Neighbourhoods. Their first album in eight years, and it is really the culmination of all the crazy things that have happened since their Self-Titled album was released in 2003.

Blink broke up, started other bands, fought publicly, produced, and almost died. But despite this they have buried the hatchet and come back with an outstanding album that sounds exactly what you would expect Blink 182 to sound like in 2011. The fart and poop jokes are gone and a more mature sound has emerged.

The first thing I picked up on was how much it sounds like Angels and Airwaves meets +44, which ironically is exactly what has happened. The original reason they went on hiatus was that Tom wanted some time off to do his own thing and expand with a different sound. Mark and Travis eventually did the same thing. Now that they are recording again it sounds as though they have made a compromise and put the sounds together to make something amazing.

There are some standout tracks on the album, including Natives, After Midnight, and MH 4.18.2011. Also you have to listen to the Hearts All Gone and the Interlude that leads into the track. It’s hard to explain but the whole album just works. It’s all I’ve been listening to for the last week (yes I got an advanced copy) and I love it more each time I hear the album.

Stream Natives and MH 4.18.2011 below and go out and buy this album. Just do it

Check out Citizen Right Now

24 Sep

I’ve written before about checking out bands that bands you like recommend. That is exactly how I came across Citizen, a band from the Ohio/Michigan area which is right in my backyard. Turnover posted about them today, and I’m really happy they did.

Citizen are currently streaming their Young States EP on band camp right now and you can pick it up for the dirt cheap price of 4 dollars. You can’t get a better deal on a quality EP, I can promise you that.

Young States offers everything you would want from your punk rock. Gang vocals, melodic break downs and catchy lyrics. Don’t sleep on this band. Check out their Young States EP below as well as a two track acoustic EP.

Go Buy Better Off – Ten Second Epic

20 Sep

For the second instalment of Go Buy, I am bringing you an amazing Canadian band that are back with a brand new album. Ten Second Epic are alternative rockers hailing from Edmonton that I have been listening to for a long time.

I used to go to their concerts in the London Ontario area way back in 2006 and 2007 when they made the rounds with the likes of Boys Night Out and The Reason. I just listened to their 2006 full length debut Count Yourself In yesterday and was reminded of how amazing they really are.

Better Off is their latest release and the follow up to their 2009 album Hometown. It features ten songs that stick to the melodic Ten Second Epic style but offer a more mature and polished sound. That is to be expected after recording for almost ten years.

You should go pick up this album today. The entire album is great and you should always support Canadian artists. Check out the music video for the first single, Young Classics below and remember that if we want quality music to continue to be produced, we need to pay for it.

Stream And Download A New Man Overboard Track – Spunn

17 Sep

Man Overboard are set to release a new self-titled album on September 27th. They just released a new song stream and download of a song off the album. Spunn is the first track I’ve heard off the album and I really like it. It was produced by Steve from New Found Glory and has that early 2000′s pop punk feel.

You can click here to head to the Lost Tapes store to download this song for free. The download also comes with a guitar tab sheet, a lyric sheet and wallpapers for your computer and cell phone. Which is a pretty good deal if you ask me. If you like what you hear you should check Man Overboard out on tour this fall in support of New Found Glory on the Pop Punks Not Dead Tour. I Really Thought I’d Posted The Hotel Year Earlier

15 Sep

I got an email today informing me that The Hotel Year had signed to Mightier Than Sword records and I knew that a post was in order. I have originally listened to The Hotel Year earlier in the year when I picked up It Never Goes Out from Bandcamp.

So when I went to write this post I searched for the post I had done when I originally heard the 9 song LP. But there was no post to be found. The album, along with the We Are Alone EP were in my iTunes but I guess I had never got around to giving them a post. Because of this I must send my apologies to our readers for not fulfilling my blogger duty to pass along the best new music as I find it.

Regardless Mightier Than Sword have decided to digitally reissue It Never Goes Out on October 11th. But until then you can stream the album below from their Bandcamp page. Enjoy.

Casiokids Have Me Wanting To Learn Norwegian

13 Sep

Ambassador Beats is branching out a bit. We want to start bringing our audience music that they may not otherwise have access to. I like to think we already do that by offering such a wide variety of musical genres in one place, but today I am really thinking outside the box.

I would like to introduce you to Casiokids. They are a band based out Norway and have an album coming out on October 11th entitled Aabenbaringen over Aaskammen. For those of you who don’t speak fluent Norwegian, it roughly translates to the revelation over the mountain.

This 10 song LP is some of the best indie pop rock I’ve heard in a while and it just so happens that you won’t understand a single word on the album. But that doesn’t take away from it at all. It is a strange sensation listening to music where you don’t understand what is being said.

I was lucky enough to get a listen to the album and was blow away. Each track is better than the last and there are a variety of different songs and styles on the record ranging from an orchestra style ballad on the opening track from which the album takes its name to an indie dance song in Golden Years.

You can listen to the first single from the album Det Haster! below and hopefully another track or two will drop before the release date a mont from now. I really enjoyed the album and I’m pretty sure you will too. Give it a chance and expose yourself to a new style of music, you’ll be glad you did. If you like what you hear you can pre-order the album here.

Into It. Over It. Release A Brand New Song

12 Sep

Into It. Over It. have been on my radar on a while but I am guessing they will be on more people’s radar in a few weeks when Evan Thomas Weiss drops his debut full length Proper on September 27th.

I can’t believe it has taken this long for Weiss to release a full length after a series of 7 inch and split releases with every band under the No Sleep sun it would seem.

A new song off Proper has hit the web today and it is stunning. Write It Right has a little bit of everything from well structured verses to an amazing break down right around the 2 minute mark that I was really not expecting.

Unfortunately the song has not been fully released yet so I can’t post it. But I can give you the link to the Into It. Over It. Facebook page where you can Like his page and stream the song, or you can head to Soundcloud to stream the song.

I’ve Been Dreaming That You’ve Been Dreaming About Me

10 Sep

A few years ago I went through a bit of Indie British invasion where for a period of 3 or 4 months I only listened to import indie bands. This included bands like Fight Like Apes, Johnny Foreigner and Los Campesinos! Although I still get around to listening to those bands every once in a while they unfortunately had slipped off my radar, until today.

I was searching for new music when I came across a new song from Los Campesinos! I didn’t even know they were recording music let alone releasing a new album! Well serves me right for slacking.

We can expect a brand new album from Los Campesinos! on November 14th entitled Hello Sadness. The band has released a new single titled By Your Hand and they are offering it as a free download. As well they shot a video for the song. So you can check out the video below and download the song for free.

Stream 4 Tracks Off The New Thrice Album

8 Sep

Alternative Rock veterans Thrice are trying something new when it comes to marketing their latest album Major/Minor. After releasing two singles earlier in the summer, Thrice have decided to release a song a day until the album is released on September 20th.

They started rolling out the songs yesterday when they released Blinded and today they followed up with Cataracts. Both are really good and should make both old and new fans of Thrice happy.

Stream the 4 released tracks below and click on Read More to check out the full line up of songs that are to be released. Enjoy
