Stefano Noferini- Afterhours (Original Club Mix)

31 Oct

Techno giant Stefano Noferini just upped the ante with his brand new single ‘Afterhours’ alongside a flawless compilation for Toolroom Records.

‘Afterhours’ is the perfect title for this late night tech house gem which embodies Stefano’s signature tantalizing builds and bouncy basslines. Accompanying ‘Afterhours’ is ‘Room 52′ and a 2012 remake of ‘Burujava’ which shows a more tribal side to the Italian producer’s arsenal.

PIXL- All That We Are

23 Oct

PIXL first caught our attention with his winning remix of Kaskade & Adam K’s ‘Raining‘. Since then he has gone on to really develop into a unique artist with an eclectic style covering everything from dnb to electro house.

His latest release is a really dark electro mix of Chris Lake & Lazy Rich’s ‘Stand Alone’ which dropped today on One Love Music.

But before you head over to Beatport to pick it up- check out his relaxing and ear pleasing track ‘All That We Are’.

Monsta- Where Did I Go (Dillion Francis & Kill Paris Remix)

23 Oct

OWSLA’s latest signing has led to a vicious 6 track EP from the fresh faced trio- Monsta.

Every track is unique it’s own bass happy way but the Dillon Francis and Kill Paris collab really hit a special note with us. Chunky moombahton bass never sounded so fresh…

Skylar Grey vs. Thomas Sagstad- Invisible At 5AM – Kaskade Mash Up

22 Oct

It’s been a New York minute since Kaskade dropped a steamy mashup but thankfully the day has come for ‘Invisible at 5AM’.

Skylar Grey’s vocals never sounded so good and what better way to celebrate them than over a big room house backdrop courtesy of Thomas Sagstad.

This is straight up feel-good music in pure Kaskade style… FREE D/L too

A$AP Rocky- Fuckin’ Problem (prod. 40) feat. 2Chainz, Drake, Kendrick Lamar

19 Oct

A$AP Rocky unexpectedly dropped a star studded track titled ‘Fuckin’ Problem’ backed by heavy weight producer- Noah “40″ Shebib.

The beat bangs and every artist brings something special to this record. If anything this track will highlight Lamar’s raw talent that will be hitting the shelves via ‘good k.i.d m.A.A.d city’ on the 22nd.

And while were at it, let’s throw in a leaked track from that album- again featuring Drake.

Mac Miller- These Dayz (Dope Awprah) (prod. Larry Fisherman)

16 Oct

Mac Miller has never shied away from reaching deep into his emotional and conscious mind and I think that is partly why we all love his music so much.

He writes thoughtful, theoretical and vulnerable material that gives the average fan a transparent view that is so often missed in today’s hip hop industry.

He goes IN on his new track ‘These Dayz’ in a unique and poetic way which flows from soothing opera ballads to aggressive almost Marshall Mathers esq rants mixed alongside his self-produced instrumental.

Birdy Nam Nam- Jaded Future EP

16 Oct

One of OWSLA’s newest talents just dropped their 4th EP Jaded Future and it is mental!

Birdy Nam Nam is still a new name to us but the DJ crew consisting of Crazy-B, DJ Pone, DJ Need and Little Mike are doing a good job of making themselves known in the EDM world.

Their new album is filled with remixes from the likes of Foreign Beggars, French Fries, Culprate and Skrillex himself- and it clearly takes on many innovative sub-genres of electronic music including glitch hop, dubstep, DnB and Trap.

Start your listening experience off by cranking both of Skrillex’s cuts of ‘Goin’ In’ and move on from there.

Zedd feat. Matthew Koma- Spectrum (Hazem Beltagui Bootleg Mix)

16 Oct

We had our greasy hands all over this bootleg a few months back but it wasn’t until yesterday that the very generous Hazem Beltagui unleashed his version of Zedd’s radio killer- ‘Spectrum’ for FREE Download.

His mix brings a very mellowed out progressive vibe to a familiar track that needed a new twist.

If you’re a fan of melodic progressive house/trance you need to check out more from Hazem Beltagui

Ellie Goulding- Stay Awake (prod. by Madeon)

13 Oct

‘Stay Awake’ is the shiny hidden gem on Ellie Goulding’s sophomore album- Halcyon.

With production credits going to the ever-young and talented Madeon, the bonus track closes out the stellar album with a bang.

Madeon brings us something completely fresh that verges on a hybrid electro drum n bass banger. And what better way to accentuate a fun, high energy instrumental than with arguably the best vocals in the business.

Lil Twist ft. Lil Wayne & Chris Brown- Flowerz (prod. diplo & DJA)

10 Oct

We can always count on Diplo for a fresh beat, unique in it’s own way and unlike anything we have ever heard. The only problem is that 90% of it sucks, in my opinion.

Maybe I am still learning to love his innovative style or maybe it just hasn’t ‘clicked’ for me. Regardless, I can safely say his new instrumental for Lil Twist, Weezy and Breezy is worth a minute of your time. And do just that- listen to Lil Wayne’s killer opening bars then shut it off.

Rick Ross- Diced Pineapples ft. Wale & Drake

9 Oct

Rozay dropped his latest contribution to the Hip Hop world with ‘The Black Bar Mitzvay’ yesterday.

I am still making my way through the tape but I hit a snag when the video for ‘Diced Pineapples’ popped up. It’s an artistic masterpiece through and through and the visuals give the standout track from ‘God Forgives I Dont’ true poetic justice.

Drake provides the R&B vibe with a catchy hook and Wale sets the stage for a melodic piano instrumental and Ross’s lyrical genius.

The visuals premiered tonight at the BET awards and were directed by the legendary Director X. Featuring the beautiful Anguilla backdrop and one of my newly discovered favourite drink (vodka & dice pineapples) this track and video are sure to be a major success.

Birdy Nam Nam- Jaded Future (Party Favor’s ‘Gettin Wasted’ Remix)

8 Oct

I love everything about this track.

The bossy trap style bass and the gettin’ wasted Friday night vibe lead to another Party Favor hit.

“Can’t even taste it… Get Wasted”  Trappy Nam Nam style

Jakwob- Blinding (Hybrid Minds Remix)

8 Oct

You can always expect greatness from Jakwob and his upcoming release ‘Blinding’ is a game changer.

UK Drum n Bass duo- Hybrid Minds draw first blood with their buttery smooth liquid dnb cut set to be released along with the Original mix on November 11.

You will need their Soundcloud link because this will be on repeat for weeks to come.

The XX – Angels (Dexcell Remix)

Foxes- Echo (Monsta Remix)

5 Oct

Monsta is the latest OWSLA signee to burst into the limelight.

The trio were discovered by Skrillex himself and their latest remix really highlights the uniqueness that sparked mainstream interest. Much like label counterpart- Seven Lions, MONSTA are beginning to carve out their own niche in the electronic music world without compromising their integrity and style.

Their productions aren’t forced and they aren’t pushing a ‘new genre’ on anyone. It is in the simplicity of their approach that we can truly appreciate the art that shines through the head pounding bass and euphoric vocals.

Even if this style of music isn’t your cup of tea, turn up the volume and let the bass take control.

Seven Lions- Days to Come ft. Fiora

4 Oct

Every so often we come across an artist that redefines musical boundaries and conventional genres. A few examples that cross my mind are Skrillex, Deadmau5, Eric Prydz and more recently, Mat Zo.

Sevon Lions falls into that upper echalon of producers that are truly redefining modern music by trailblazing through uncharted territory. His sound is not limited to something others have done before- and ‘Days to Come’ is a good example of his uniqueness.

Sure enough label head Skrillex took notice to the fresh sounds of Sevon Lions and OWSLA will be releasing his EP on October 16th.

Keep an eye out for this talented young artist and his self titled EP in a few weeks!

Zedd ft. Foxes- Clarity (Original Mix)

2 Oct

Zedd stepped up to the plate and banged out a HOME RUN with his new album ‘Clarity’.

You can tell his heart and soul went into this masterpiece as every track has an intricate, planned and methodical feel to it. From the ever-hyped ‘Shave It Up’ to our favourite tune- ‘Clarity’ the mood of the album flows from radio friendly progressive house to stabbing electro in a seamless manner.

Ellie Goulding- Explosions

2 Oct

As we eagerly await Ellie Goulding’s ‘Halcyon’ LP another teaser surfaced to up the excitement.

‘Explosions’ takes us deep into the hypnotic vocals of one the most tantalizing song birds of our time while plunging into the emotional depths of her impeccable songwriting.

Easily our favourite release so far and thankfully we only have to wait 6 more days to unveil Ellie’s second studio album.

You Can Always Come Home – Post 1

1 Oct

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything on this website that I helped create. I have extremely fond memories of the time The Conductor and I have invested into this venture, but things change and sometimes things get put on the back burner.

Between raising a family, working full time and going to school, my priorities have changed considerably. But as these things have taken up the foreground in my life, music still plays an enormous role. I spend my entire work day listening to my iTunes collection and I embrace the 25 minute drive to and from school as I can listen to the majority of any CD I choose.

I may not be able to expose myself and our readers to a tenth of the bands I once could, I still listen to a ton of music and feel like I can share some of those findings. So if you are so interested, check out the rest of this post for songs I’ve been listening to, and maybe a little more about what I’ve been doing with my life.
