Disfunktion – Goodbye Miami

30 Jun

It is not easy to get me to listen to a progressive house tune. There really has to be something there that impresses me, and Disfunktion has hit the nail on the head with this one.

As unfortunate as it is, I know absolutely nothing about this genre and cannot break this song down other than the synth line is something that would have be going CRAZY at the club, if I knew the location of any club within 500 miles.

Check out the Goodbye Miami preview from the upcoming Appetite for Disfunktion album from Disfunktion. The 15 track album is set to be released on PinkStar records in the very near future so keep your eyes out for that. Until then throw this on your holiday weekend playlist.

Nathan – Azealia Banks feat Styles P

30 Jun

If you were to text me right now, you’d cause my iPhone to start playing the hook to Azealia Bank’s smash hit 212.

Well I might need to switch things up now that Ms Banks has dropped her new single Nathan.

I cannot wait until her full length is released and its really only a matter of time till Azealia will be misspelled by every person in America.

One Blind Whistle-Blower – 2F Mashup

30 Jun

My favourite album of all time is Third Eye Blind Self Titled. Every single song on that album is amazing, I have bought the CD three separate times and it was worth it each and every time.

So when I was scanning the email inbox and saw a Two Friends mashup that featured Jumper from Third Eye Blind I couldn’t fire a post together quick enough.

This track takes the best elements from three separate songs and puts them together perfectly.

Stream the track below and then download it for free. If you like what you hear check out more on the Two Friends Facebook page.

Whale Tooth – One Bite Will Bring Me To My Knees

29 Jun

It appears July 10th is going to be a busy day for me. Just like Saint Motel, Whale Tooth are set to release Search Party, a brand new 8 track LP.

Their first single is called Wolves, and I promise that is the only other animal reference on the album, but from what I’ve heard of Search Party, we are all going to be blown away.

Whale Tooth made waves with their 2009 Self-Titled EP and I’ve had Sleepwalking and 6 Billion, (my two favourite songs from the EP) on constant repeat to prepare myself for the new album.

If you are interested in Indie Pop/Rock, you’d be hard pressed to find something as refreshing as Whale Tooth. Check out the video for their first single Wolves below and hit the jump to check out 6 Billion and Sleepwalking.

Puzzle Pieces – Saint Motel

29 Jun

Saint Motel have really been teasing me lately. I stumbled across their tune Puzzle Pieces and could barely wait to go home and pick up their album.

Unfortunately their debut album hasn’t even been released yet! But we are getting close. Voyeur is set to drop on July 10th both digitally and physically on CD and 12 inch vinyl.

To be honest the piano and drum intro hit me hard but the smooth vocals had me sold within the first 30 seconds. I’m also especially fond of the stuttering vocal patterns.

Check out Puzzle Pieces below, as well as the latest single to be released, Benny Goodman. Click on Read More to check out the upcoming dates for their summer tour.

I’m Back – Sincerely Codhoppers

28 Jun

So you may have noticed that I took a little time off, well a lot of time off. The last seven months have been a crazy time for me, a time that needed my full attention.

I told The Conductor that I needed some time to get settled and I wouldn’t be able to contribute. But after two moves, buying a house, welcoming a baby boy into the world, settling into a 9 to 5 job and being accepted to a graduate school program, I’m back.

I am a man that wears many hats, and the last seven months have left me feeling naked without being able to sport my Ambassador Beats hat. No I cannot promise that I will return to the eight posts a day Codhoppers of past, but I can guarantee that I will do my best to provide you with the best in new music.

I am excited for what the future holds and the opportunities that lay before me and Ambassador Beats.

Dash Berlin & ATB vs Niki And The Dove- DJ Ease My Apollo Road (Dash Berlin Dashup)

28 Jun

Dash Berlin perfectly crafts his ATB collab ‘Apollo Road’ alongside the soulful ‘DJ Ease My Mind’ from Niki & The Dove.

Alesso & Dirty South – City Of Dreams (Jakob Liedholm Do Like You Edit)

22 Jun

To add to the list of teenagers who are absolutely killing it right now (think Porter Robinson, age 19, and Madeon, age 18) Jakob Liedholm (aka Jakob Lido) is a Swede producer who is only 15 (wtf!) and is starting to build an impressive setlist.  The original City of Dreams is going to be a massive track once an official version is released but for now Jakob has added an even bigger drop and mixed it with the lyrics from Eva Simmons – I Don’t Like you.  This is a great way to start off the weekend, Enjoy.

Stereo Palma feat. Craig David- Our Love (Myon & Shane 54 Summer Of Love Mix)

16 Jun

We can always count on Myon & Shane 54 for bringing us out of a depressing music drought.

The pair from Hungary are known for their melodic uplifting trance productions but lately their offerings have been airing on the proggy house side. ‘Our Love’ brings an infectious summery baseline with the soothing vocals from R&B legend Craig David.

5 Jun

Porter Robinson is touring North America on the Language Tour but that hasn’t stopped him from releasing some new treats for us.

He released a 4 track bootleg pack today and his take on Bass Cannon is enough to keep this track alive for a few more months. That alone is worth downloading it so go ahead… d/l it here

Martin Solveig- The Night Out (Live at Studio Ferber)

1 Jun

Martin Solveig has officially gotten full mileage out of the ever-catchy ‘The Night Out’.

He takes his vocals and funky arrangement into Studio Ferber for a full fledged accompaniment with an array of instruments. Following the path of guys like Skrillex, Nero & Magnetic Man I think this ‘live’ take on electronic music is genius.
